Gentleman

Have you ever had a friend with a complicated relationship? I really don't know how to explain this besides you don't know how to feel about them. It has ranged from love to pure hatred, several ties since we met.

Well a couple weeks ago she told things I didn't want to hear, and I really didn't know how to react. I tried to apologize and ask what was wrong and how to fix it but nothing worked. After two nerve-wracking weeks of this she just decided to begin ignoring me and treats me like I don't exist.

The true problem is not that shes ignoring me, but that I can't communicate how I feel about things. I really just want to reason with her and try rebuild the thriving friendship we once had, but I fear that ship has sailed. The feeling of one of your best friends leaving your life is a hard one to deal with, especially when it was not on good terms. All I want is friendship, not a war.

This song pretty much describes this whole feeling :(

Re: Stacks

You're actually reading this, cool :P Anyways, I was walking my friend home tonight after hanging out. On the way we each reflected on things and how the decisions we make have a huge effect on how other people see us but more importantly how we see ourselves. As we were talking, we discovered we have done a lot of things we're proud of and many that we're not so proud of. I was also thinking of how in high school your reputation follows you like a shadow, always there. College is chance for a fresh start for everyone, a second chance to be seen by others as you see yourself. I told her to take things more seriously and to take care of herself, because if you take care of yourself other people will treat you the same. As we said these things it seemed so apparent and obvious, but when we actually do things we lose sight of the big picture and always focus on the moment which can do a lot of damage. After she left and I walked back home I felt a peace, that everything happening in the moment and its not the things that happened that matter most, but the things that will happen and what I accomplish will matter in the end. How am I going to relate this to music? I was listening to a fantastic song Re: Stacks by Bon Iver. The song is about him reflecting on his past and realizing that it doesn't really matter, only the future does. As he says in the song "On your back with your racks as the stacks as your load, In the back and the racks and the stacks are your load", he is unloading his stacks and memories for new experiences.

Welcome/ This Will Destroy You

Hey, I'm Andrew. I am a high school senior who likes art, writing and especially music. So I've created this blog essentially to fuse my main interests in one place. I'm going to write about life events and my opinions and have some song or artwork to go with it. I think it's pretty cool and I hope you do too.

First I'm gonna write about a band recently saw live. I went with a couple of my friends to see This Will Destroy You in the basement of the First Unitarian Church in Philly. We walk down and we see an average sized basement packed to the gills with everyone's favorite people, hipsters. I was a little skeptical at first but once the show started I was amazed at how well such a low key concert worked. The guys in the bands would come down and chill in the audience after they played, which I though was really cool. After 4 hours in a sweaty, dark basement; they finally came on. If you've never heard their music I can only describe it as eargasmic. After the concert we all passed out in the back of my dads car, their awesome tunes still ringing in our brains. This is why I love concerts. :)

Here is one of my favorite songs of theirs:
