Re: Stacks

You're actually reading this, cool :P Anyways, I was walking my friend home tonight after hanging out. On the way we each reflected on things and how the decisions we make have a huge effect on how other people see us but more importantly how we see ourselves. As we were talking, we discovered we have done a lot of things we're proud of and many that we're not so proud of. I was also thinking of how in high school your reputation follows you like a shadow, always there. College is chance for a fresh start for everyone, a second chance to be seen by others as you see yourself. I told her to take things more seriously and to take care of herself, because if you take care of yourself other people will treat you the same. As we said these things it seemed so apparent and obvious, but when we actually do things we lose sight of the big picture and always focus on the moment which can do a lot of damage. After she left and I walked back home I felt a peace, that everything happening in the moment and its not the things that happened that matter most, but the things that will happen and what I accomplish will matter in the end. How am I going to relate this to music? I was listening to a fantastic song Re: Stacks by Bon Iver. The song is about him reflecting on his past and realizing that it doesn't really matter, only the future does. As he says in the song "On your back with your racks as the stacks as your load, In the back and the racks and the stacks are your load", he is unloading his stacks and memories for new experiences.
